Sunday, July 11, 1993. The Summer of  1993 proved to be the wettest
in recorded history. The participants of the Sixth Annual Brotherhood
Days experienced rain at least once every 24 hours. Each morning at
the Water of Life ceremony, Severt Young Bear reminded us to
remember those that were suffering the effects of the floods throughout
the Midwest. This particular storm was the most severe of the week.
Out of a nearly cloudless sky the storm quickly swept over the camp
circle and as quickly passed on. The storm left behind an intense
contrast between the dark sky and the earth. As the thunderheads
passed they left the earth washed by torrents of rain and brightly
illuminated by the sun.
